How To Play Fowling (Football Bowling)
Fowling, also known as Football Bowling, is a fun and competitive yard game that combines football and bowling into one exciting challenge. It’s perfect for parties, tailgates, and events, giving players of all skill levels a chance to test their throwing accuracy and bowling strategy.
What You Need to Play
- 2 sets of 10 bowling pins (arranged in a standard 10-pin formation)
- 1 football
- A playing area (recommended length: 48 feet between the pin setups)
- 2+ players or teams
Fowling Setup
- Set up 10 bowling pins in a triangle formation at each end of the playing area.
- Players stand behind their respective foul lines, similar to cornhole or bowling.
- Teams take turns throwing a football toward the opponent's pins.
How to Play Fowling
- Players alternate throwing the football to knock down the opponent’s 10 pins.
- You can throw the football however you want—overhand, underhand, or even sideways.
- The goal is to knock down all 10 pins before your opponent does.
- Only one player throws per turn, and both teams get an equal number of turns.
Fowling Scoring & Winning
- No specific point system—the first team to knock down all 10 pins wins the round. If a player knocks down all 10 pins on their first throw, it's called an "Instant Win", and the game ends immediately!
- Some variations allow for "frames" like traditional bowling. Play 10 frames with 2 throws for each frame. Add up your points for each frame and the winner is the team with the most points.
Fowling Rules & Strategy Tips
- If a pin is leaning but not fully down, it stays up.
- You can use bounce shots or deflections to your advantage.
- If you accidentally hit an opponent’s pin with a bad throw, it still counts for them!
- Adjust your throwing power and accuracy—football bounces make this game unpredictable and exciting.
